Saves, Shares, Impressions and Profile Visits: The Instagram Metrics Most Accounts Overlook

STAR SMM Panel|2026.10.07 22:15|조회 9|댓글 0

Most people judge an Instagram post by two numbers: likes and comments. Most people judge an account by one number: followers. Those numbers matter, but they are only the part of the picture that everyone can see. Behind every post there is a second set of numbers that only the account owner sees, in Insights. Four of them are easy to overlook and say a lot about how content is actually performing: impressions, saves, shares and profile visits.

This article explains each metric, how they connect, how to earn them with your own content, when buying them can make sense, and how to measure results. We use STAR SMM Panel as a worked example where it helps, but the explanations apply to any Instagram account.

Public metrics and insight metrics: two different scoreboards

Instagram numbers fall roughly into two groups. The first group is visible to anyone who opens your profile or post. The second group lives in Insights, which is available on professional accounts (Creator or Business), and only the account owner and people with access to the account can see it.

MetricGroupWho can see itWhat it mainly tells you
FollowersPublicAnyone viewing the profileSize of the audience
LikesPublic (can be hidden by the owner)Anyone, unless hiddenQuick approval of a post
CommentsPublicAnyone viewing the postConversation around a post
Reels viewsPublicAnyone viewing the ReelHow often a Reel was played
ImpressionsInsightAccount ownerHow often content was displayed
SavesInsightAccount ownerHow many people bookmarked the post
SharesMostly insightAccount owner, sometimes shown publiclyHow often the post was sent or reposted
Profile visitsInsightAccount ownerHow many times people opened the profile

Instagram changes how it displays numbers fairly often. Share counts have been visible on some posts in recent app versions, while saves stay private. Some insight metrics have also been renamed: much of what used to be called impressions is now reported under "Views". The idea is the same, so this article keeps the familiar name.

Why does the split matter? Because visitors judge your account by public numbers, while you should judge your content by insight numbers. A post can collect plenty of likes from existing followers and still reach very few new people, while another with modest likes is saved hundreds of times.

Impressions: how often your content was shown

Definition

An impression is counted each time your post, Reel or story is displayed on someone's screen. One person can create several impressions by seeing the same post more than once. That is the main difference from reach, which counts unique accounts. If 1,000 accounts saw a post and some saw it twice, you might see 1,000 reach and 1,300 impressions.

How it is counted in general terms

Impressions are counted wherever your content appears: home feed, Explore, hashtag and audio pages, your profile grid, direct messages. Insights usually splits the total by source and by followers versus non-followers.

Where to find it

Open the post, tap "View insights" and look at the overview. Depending on your app version, the number appears as Impressions or Views. Account totals are in the professional dashboard.

What it suggests about content

Impressions measure distribution, not quality. They are most useful read together with the other three metrics: how many displays turned into a save, a share or a profile visit.

Why platforms tend to value it

Platforms generally care about attention and repeat viewing, and impressions measure both in a rough way. Instagram does not publish how its ranking uses them, so treat impressions as a description of what happened rather than a lever with a known effect.

Saves: the bookmark metric

Definition

A save is counted when someone taps the bookmark icon under a post or Reel. The post goes into that person's private saved collection so they can find it later. Each account can save a post once, so saves are closer to unique people than impressions are.

How it is counted in general terms

The count rises when someone saves and falls if they later remove the post from their saved items. The account owner sees the total, but not who saved the post. Other users do not see the save count at all.

Where to find it

In post insights, the interactions section lists likes, comments, shares and saves side by side. The professional dashboard can also sort your content by saves.

What it suggests about content

A save is a stronger signal than a like. A like costs one tap and is often given out of habit. A save means the person expects to come back: to use a recipe, follow a tutorial, buy a product later or show something to a friend. Posts with high saves relative to their reach are usually reference material: lists, guides, step-by-step carousels, before and after examples, price comparisons.

Why platforms tend to value it

Saving shows intent to return, and a platform that wants people to keep coming back has a reason to notice content that people bookmark. Many marketers believe saves can help distribution, but this is not officially confirmed in detail. Use saves mainly as feedback about what your audience finds valuable.

Shares: the word of mouth metric

Definition

A share is counted when someone sends your post or Reel to another person in direct messages, adds it to their own story, or shares it through another route that Instagram tracks. It is the closest thing Instagram has to word of mouth.

How it is counted in general terms

Each send or repost through the share button can add to the count, so one person sending a post to three friends may produce several shares. Screenshots and links pasted into other apps are generally not counted, so the real spread can be wider than the number shown.

Where to find it

The share count is in the interactions section of post insights, next to saves. On some posts and app versions, the share count also appears publicly under the post.

What it suggests about content

People share content that says something about them or that they think will be useful or funny for someone else. High shares usually point to content that is relatable, surprising, practical for a specific group, or connected to a current topic. Shares are also a source of new reach.

Why platforms tend to value it

Sharing starts conversations inside the app and brings new viewers, and it is commonly assumed that shares can support distribution, especially for Reels. The details are not published, so read shares as evidence that content travels well, not as a guaranteed boost.

Profile visits: from post to account

Definition

A profile visit is counted each time someone opens your profile page. It can come from tapping your username on a post, a mention, a search, a link or a tag. Like impressions, it counts visits, not unique people.

How it is counted in general terms

Instagram attributes profile visits both to the account as a whole and, in post insights, to the individual post that led someone to your profile. The per-post number shows which posts make people curious.

Where to find it

Account-level profile visits are in the professional dashboard for the selected date range. Per-post profile activity appears in the post insights, usually together with taps on links, buttons or contact options.

What it suggests about content

A profile visit is the step between "I liked this post" and "I want to follow this account". A post that drives visits is one that makes people want more of the same, which is often a sign of a clear niche or a distinctive style.

Why platforms tend to value it

Profile visits show interest in an account rather than one piece of content, and the profile is where people decide to follow, click a link or contact you. That makes visits a useful signal for you, whatever weight the platform gives them.

How the four metrics fit together

These metrics are easier to understand as parts of one path. Impressions put content in front of people. Some of those people interact with the post itself by saving or sharing it. Some go further and open the profile. Some of those visitors follow. Shares loop back by creating new impressions.

StageMetricQuestion it answersUseful ratio
1. ExposureImpressions (and reach)Was the content shown?Non-follower share of impressions
2. ValueSavesWas it worth keeping?Saves per 1,000 reach
3. SpreadSharesWas it worth passing on?Shares per 1,000 reach
4. CuriosityProfile visitsDid it make people look at the account?Visits per 1,000 reach
5. CommitmentFollowersDid visitors decide to stay?New follows per 100 profile visits

Reading the ratios rather than raw numbers helps you find where the path breaks:

  • High impressions, low saves and shares: the post was shown but did not offer enough value or emotion to keep or pass on.
  • High saves, low profile visits: people liked this post as a resource but did not connect it with your account.
  • High profile visits, low new followers: the profile itself is the weak point. Check the bio, profile picture, highlights and the first rows of the grid.
  • High shares, modest impressions: the content travels well among people who see it. It may be worth repeating the format.

Earning these metrics with your own content

Buying numbers is never a substitute for content people want. These formats tend to earn each metric naturally.

Formats that tend to get saved

  • Step-by-step carousels: recipes, tutorials, workouts, setup guides. One step per slide.
  • Checklists and lists: "10 places to visit in...", "what to pack for...", "tools I use for...".
  • Reference cards: size charts, price comparisons, shortcuts, vocabulary.
  • Before and after examples with a short explanation of what changed.

Formats that tend to get shared

  • Relatable observations about a specific group: a job, a city, a hobby.
  • Short, surprising facts or results that people want to show someone.
  • Timely content tied to an event, season or announcement.
  • Practical posts made for a pair or group: "send this to the friend who...", plans for a trip, gift ideas.

Ways to encourage profile visits

  • Post in series so that one post makes people want the rest ("part 2 is on my profile").
  • Keep a consistent visual style so that people recognize your posts and connect them to your account.
  • Mention in captions what else they will find on the profile: guides, prices, highlights.

When buying these metrics can make sense

Paid engagement is a tool with limits. It does not make weak content strong, and it does not replace an audience that cares. It can help in the early life of a post or account, when good content has not yet had exposure. Common situations:

  • A new account where every post starts from almost zero and the profile looks empty to visitors.
  • A launch post for a product, opening or campaign that you want to support from the first hour.
  • A country-specific campaign, where you want the early activity on a post to come from the same market as your customers.
  • Agencies and resellers who manage several client accounts and want consistent starting activity across them.

Some reasons not to buy: when the post itself has a problem (unclear, low quality, wrong audience), when you need real customers rather than numbers, or when you would be ordering far more than the account's size makes believable.

The general principle is proportion. Keep paid numbers in a range that fits the account's existing activity and the ratios real posts in your niche tend to show. Impressions should be much larger than saves, shares and profile visits, and visits larger than new followers.

Prices: why saves and shares are so inexpensive

Insight metrics are usually cheaper than public ones. On STAR SMM Panel every service targets exactly one country, prices are in USD per 1,000, and these four are among the cheapest in the table. October 2026 prices:

CountryImpressionsSavesSharesProfile Visits
India$0.0059$0.0012$0.0003$0.0136
United States$0.0121$0.0012$0.0003$0.0136
Brazil$0.0121$0.0012$0.0003$0.0136
Egypt$0.0078$0.0012$0.0003$0.0136
Vietnam$0.0104$0.0012$0.0003$0.0136

Saves cost $0.0012 per 1,000 and shares $0.0003 per 1,000 in every country, and profile visits cost $0.0136 per 1,000 everywhere. Impressions range from $0.0059 (India) to $0.0121 (United States and most others). So 100,000 saves cost $0.12 and 100,000 shares cost $0.03 (cost = price per 1,000 × quantity / 1,000).

Quantity limits matter as much as price. The minimum order is 100 for every service. The maximum is 100,000 for most services, including saves and shares, and 1,000,000 for Post Impressions and Profile Visits. On real posts these two metrics usually run much larger than saves or shares.

Example combinations and budgets

The examples below use the price table above. They are illustrations of proportion, not recommendations for a specific account. Adjust the quantities to the size of your own account and niche.

Example 1: supporting a single post in the United States

ServiceQuantityPrice per 1,000Cost
Impressions50,000$0.0121$0.6050
Likes1,000$0.0420$0.0420
Saves2,000$0.0012$0.0024
Shares1,000$0.0003$0.0003
Totalabout $0.65

Impressions are most of the cost.

Example 2: a profile funnel in Brazil

ServiceQuantityPrice per 1,000Cost
Impressions (on a recent post)30,000$0.0121$0.3630
Profile Visits20,000$0.0136$0.2720
Followers1,000$0.4125$0.4125
Totalabout $1.05

This follows the shape of the funnel: many impressions, fewer profile visits, and far fewer followers than visits.

Example 3: a Reel in South Korea

10,000 Reels Views at $0.0462 ($0.4620), 500 likes at $0.0420 ($0.0210), 300 saves ($0.0004) and 200 shares ($0.0001): about $0.48 in total.

Example 4: maximum scale in India

ServiceQuantityPrice per 1,000Cost
Impressions1,000,000$0.0059$5.90
Profile Visits1,000,000$0.0136$13.60
Saves100,000$0.0012$0.12
Shares100,000$0.0003$0.03
Total$19.65

A ceiling example: very few accounts need numbers this large on one post.

Because the minimum top-up on STAR SMM Panel is 10 USD, one top-up covers Examples 1 to 3 many times over. Larger top-ups include a bonus (300 USD or more +5%, 500 or more +7%, 1,000 or more +10%, 2,000 or more +15%).

Which link each metric needs

Profile visits are about the account, everything else in this article is about a single post.

ServiceLink typeAccepted formats
Profile Visits, FollowersProfileinstagram.com/username, @username, username
Impressions, Saves, Shares, Likes, Reels Views, CommentsPostinstagram.com/p/CODE, instagram.com/reel/CODE (also /reels/ and /tv/)

On STAR SMM Panel, links are checked in the dashboard and in the API before an order is accepted, and saved in a standard form. The account must stay public until the order finishes. If it turns private during an order, the order stops and the remaining quantity is refunded to your balance. No order needs your Instagram password, and you should never give it to any panel.

Measuring results before and after

The most useful habit is to record numbers before an order starts and compare them afterwards. Insight metrics need a little more care here, because only you can see them.

1. Take a snapshot in Insights

Before ordering, open the post insights and write down impressions (or views), reach, saves, shares and profile activity. For profile visits, note the account-level number for the current period in the professional dashboard. Repeat the snapshot when the order is completed and again a few days later.

2. Use the start count and order status

The order status includes a start count, the remaining quantity and the status itself. On STAR SMM Panel the dashboard shows a progress bar, remaining quantity is synced every minute, and the API status response also returns progress and delivered quantity. A status request looks like this:

POST https://star-smm-panel.com/api/v2
key=YOUR_API_KEY
action=status
order=ORDER_ID

And a typical response:

{
  "charge": "0.0024",
  "start_count": "35",
  "status": "In progress",
  "remains": "800",
  "progress": "60",
  "delivered": "1200",
  "currency": "USD"
}

Any running order can be stopped: not started means a full refund (Canceled), in progress means the undelivered quantity is refunded (Partial).

3. Check public counts with the post lookup

If you track many posts, reading Insights by hand does not scale. The STAR SMM Panel API includes a post lookup that returns a post's current likes, comments, views (for Reels) and shares:

POST https://star-smm-panel.com/api/v2
key=YOUR_API_KEY
action=post
link=https://www.instagram.com/p/CODE/

Note what it does not return: saves. Save counts are private to the account owner, so the only reliable place to confirm them is the post's own insights. The same applies to impressions and profile visits. For account-level numbers, the profile lookup (action=profile with a username) returns followers, following, posts, and whether the account is private or verified. Lookups are limited to 60 per minute per key.

4. Read the ratios, not just the totals

After the order, compare the funnel ratios from before and after. Did profile visits lead to more follows than usual? Did the post keep collecting saves and shares from real viewers once the order was done? Those follow-on effects, if any, are the part worth learning from.

5. Allow for normal movement

Counts move for many reasons. If delivering accounts hit an Instagram security check, called a challenge, some numbers can drop for a while. STAR SMM Panel does not sell refill services. Instead, an automated system recovers challenged accounts so the counts come back. Selfie verification is also handled automatically but can take up to 3 hours, and permanently banned accounts are hard to recover.

Common mistakes

  • Judging content by likes only. Likes are the easiest action. Saves, shares and profile visits often tell you more about what works.
  • Confusing impressions and reach. Impressions count displays, reach counts accounts. A big gap between them means people saw the post several times.
  • Ordering out of proportion. Tens of thousands of saves on a post with a few hundred impressions does not match how real posts behave.
  • Using a profile link for a post service, or the reverse. Profile visits need a profile link. Impressions, saves and shares need a post or Reel link.
  • Expecting the post lookup to show saves. Saves are private and only visible in Insights.
  • Treating paid numbers as the strategy. They can support good content. They cannot replace it.

Frequently asked questions

Can other people see how many saves my post has?
No. Saves are visible only to the account owner in Insights. Other users see likes (unless hidden), comments and, on Reels, views.

Do I need a professional account to see these metrics?
Yes. Insights is available on Creator and Business accounts. Switching from a personal account is free in the app settings, and insights generally start from the time you switch.

Why do some insight numbers now appear as "Views"?
Instagram has been renaming and combining some metrics over time. In recent versions of Insights, the display count that was called impressions is largely reported as views. The idea is the same: how often your content was shown.

Which link do I use for profile visits?
A profile link: instagram.com/username, @username or just the username. Impressions, saves and shares use a post or Reel link.

Do saves and shares help a post get more reach?
They can. Saves and shares are widely seen as signals that content is valuable, and platforms tend to pay attention to signals like that. Instagram does not publish exact details, so treat any effect as possible rather than certain.

How much does it cost to try saves or shares?
On STAR SMM Panel the minimum order is 100. At $0.0012 per 1,000 for saves and $0.0003 per 1,000 for shares, a minimum order costs a fraction of a cent. The minimum top-up is 10 USD.

What is the maximum order for impressions and profile visits?
1,000,000 per order. Most other services, including saves and shares, have a maximum of 100,000.

How do I check saves after an order, if the API does not return them?
Open the post insights in the Instagram app and compare with the snapshot you took before ordering. The API post lookup covers likes, comments, Reels views and shares.
